About UsYou read a little about Ron on our Welcome page, but we thought you would like to meet the rest of us. You’ve heard of the “Brady Bunch”? Well, meet the Guidry Tribe! Ron was born and raised in Houston and attended Waltrip High School. He went on to cram 4 years of college into 6, but finally did graduate from Houston Baptist University. Lisa is also a native Houstonian, graduating from Milby High School back in the late ‘70’s (that’s all the hint you get on her age!). Then came the spring of 1987 - Ron was a 32 year old bachelor and Lisa was a single mom with 2 small children. They met on a blind date and by the end of the year they were married and the adventure began! They now have a total of 10 children – 6 girls and 4 boys, ages 27-6. Lisa is a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) who has been homeschooling the kiddos since 1989. She is heavily involved in the homeschool community – encouraging moms and dads in their choice to teach their children at home. She is also a talented writer. They reside north of Houston with 8 of their children, 2 dogs and a very fat cat!
Ron was born to Allen and Margaret Guidry in 1955, the youngest of 3 children and their only son. Allen Guidry, Jr., a veteran of WWII – having served on the USS Harris in the South Pacific, was a skilled craftsman in the construction industry. In 1952 he started in the shutter business that later became known as Custom-Bilt Shutter Shop, which he owned and ran until the winter of 1990 when he suffered a massive heart attack. Allen was a well-respected craftsman of shutters and because of his skill and craftsmanship, which he passed onto his son, Custom-Bilt Shutter Shop became the leading custom manufacturer of wood shutters in Houston, Texas. It was because of this skill and craftsmanship, as well as the integrity of both Allen and Ron, that many leading architects and designers recommended Custom-Bilt Shutter Shop products to their clients. It was in this industry that Ron grew up, learning at his father’s side. In 1990, Allen suffered a massive heart attack and was no longer able to run the business. Ron took over the reins and the quality and integrity that many had come to expect from Custom-Bilt Shutters continued on. In 2002, Allen Guidry passed away. Ron sold Custom-Bilt Shutter Shop – it just wasn’t the same without his dad, and he retired from the manufacturing of shutters. Ron continued to be involved in the retail side of the window treatment industry, selling and installing blinds and shutters. With the skill and training that was taught and instilled in him by his father, Allen Guidry, Jr., Ron continues the legacy of quality and integrity that has always accompanied the Guidry name.
